A job description may list many skills and qualifications, but not all of them carry the same weight, and some are alternatives rather than separate requirements. Our latest Matcher update helps make these distinctions clearer, so you can better understand how your experience fits the role.
We've introduced keyword priorities, smarter handling of alternative qualifications, and a more meaningful match rate calculation, alongside support for 11 more languages. Related improvements to AI Tools bring the same priorities into CV tailoring, helping you put that guidance into practice.
Focus on the keywords that matter most
Matcher now assigns keywords a low, medium, or high priority, helping distinguish more important terms from those that deserve less attention.
Priority labels are visible in the Keywords view, giving you a clearer guide to where you should focus when tailoring your CV.
A more meaningful match rate
We've rebuilt the match rate calculation to account more carefully for both keyword priority and keyword type. High- and medium-priority keywords carry more weight, while low-priority terms have a limited contribution to the overall score.
Your match rate may be higher or lower than before, even with the same CV and job description. The goal is not simply to give you a higher number, but to better reflect how your CV covers the job's more important requirements.
Smarter handling of alternative requirements
A job description may list several acceptable qualifications without requiring all of them. Matcher now recognises these groups of alternatives and checks how many are actually needed.
For example, if a requirement lists eight languages but asks for knowledge of just one, matching one is enough to satisfy that part of the requirement. The remaining alternatives are marked as ignored in the Requirements view rather than treated as missing. If the employer asks for two or more items from a list, Matcher checks for the specified number.
This makes the analysis more useful when a role allows different ways to meet a requirement, instead of treating every listed option as mandatory.
More natural skill keywords
We've improved how Matcher turns skill-related phrases into terms that make sense in your Skills section. For example, "priorities" can be represented as "Prioritisation," while "working together" can become "Teamwork."
These clearer skill names appear in the Keywords view and Suggestions, and are also used as synonyms during matching. This helps Matcher recognise different ways of expressing the same skill while giving you more usable wording for your CV.
Matcher and Suggestions in 11 more languages
Matcher now fully supports French, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Polish, Dutch, Romanian, Finnish, Norwegian, Danish, and Swedish.
Suggestions also support all 11 new languages, expanding access to both job-specific analysis and content ideas for your CV.
AI Tools that follow the same priorities
When improving your CV, AI Tools now give more attention to high- and medium-priority keywords and take alternative requirement groups into account. This helps the tailoring process focus on relevant requirements without treating every option in a list as something your CV needs to include.
We've also improved how they handle your Skills section. If you don't use proficiency ratings, AI won't introduce them. If you rate only your hard skills, newly added soft skills stay unrated. When both hard and soft skills use ratings, new skills follow the same pattern.
Long, ungrouped skill lists can now be automatically organised into hard and soft skill categories, making your Skills section easier to navigate.
Alongside these changes, we've updated the AI model powering both CV and cover letter AI Tools.
Together, these improvements help you put Matcher's guidance into practice, with tailoring that follows the job's priorities more closely and a Skills section that stays consistent with your preferences.
